Wilfredo Gomez

Wilfredo Gomez is an artist, activist, and educator. He aims to embody the quote of a dear mentor who shares, “writers write, teachers teach, activists act, but a good scholar does all of the above.” A Ph.D Candidate in Criticism and Culture (English) at the University of Cambridge, Wilfredo borrows from hip-hop, disability, and literary studies to critically engage disability narratives and calls for disability justice. The Ed.M at Harvard extends that work, thinking through policy implementation and advocacy through the development of leadership skills, organizational strategies, and entrepreneurial interventions. His professional and volunteer experiences similarly wed his politics to how he shows up in the world. In those efforts, he has served as a college access mentor, an oral histories researcher at the Center for Puerto Rican Studies at Hunter College, and a consultant at Cambridge’s ThinkLab, where he worked on a neurodiversity project for the BBC.
