Paytan Murray
Paytan is an Ed.M. candidate in the Education Leadership, Organizations, and Entrepreneurship program at HGSE. Raised in a low-income household with an incarcerated parent, Paytan learned early how systems can fail families, and made the decision to define her own path rather than the one laid out for her. As a first-generation graduate student, she has maintained that path while supporting those around her, from helping develop and scale an international tutoring company, to earning interdisciplinary honors at the University of Washington, to managing Fortune 500 client relationships. At HGSE, she serves as an LPCE Graduate Fellow and an advocate committed to building education systems that extend the same chance she created for herself to students who have historically been shut out.
